TAAREN ZAMEEN PAR REVIEW….

Taree zameen par (the English translation—“Stars On Ground”), portrayed beautifully by the actor turned director Aamir Khan. Three hours of thorough entertainment, aimed at conveying “Dyslexia” or the “Word blindness” occurring in children who lack sobriety. These children are not mentally retarded and have above-average intelligence and they can be made normal by treating with love and care. Word blindness does not mean that they cannot visualize, but “Words and numbers whirling and dancing” as portrayed in the movie. These children have problem in differentiating letters and this is generally refereed as learning disability.

The success of the movie can be attributed to the excellent performance of the child artist Darshan Safary as “Ishaan”, whose signs of dyslexia is unidentified until the age of nine.
Ishaan, youngest and pampered child in the family lacks seriousness at studies but has good painting skills. On receiving repetitive complaints from school teachers and near ones regarding his playfulness nature, he was shifted unwillingly to a boarding school by his father. Nostalgia upsets him time and again and his conditions worsen further.

Aamir makes his entry into the movie few minutes before the intermission as a Drawing-master who follows a different teaching methodology. Having identified the signs of Dyslexia in Ishaan, he strives to bring him to normal. Aamir devotes extra time to the child and uses innovative methods to make him learn and speak words.

If you are a person very easily moved by sentiments, carrying a handkerchief is a must. I couldn’t resist drops of water pouring out of my eye at the end when Ishaan wins the first place for his art-work amidst hundreds of students and teachers inspite of his disability.

This flick is a must-watch for parents who actually bully their child to compete with their counter parts. As the tagline of the movie suggests “Every child is special”, parents of children should realize their potential and stop unnecessary thrusts on their kids.

I would call “Taree Zameen Par” as a movie of offbeat genre. The theatre remained perfectly silent except for few scenes and this shows how every one of them was deeply engrossed. Children would end enjoying the school –scenes, cartoons but will surely end up asking repetitive questions regarding Dyslexia, “Am I dyslexic because I score low marks?” to the person sitting next to them. Thanks to Aamir for bringing out a wonderful movie and also to the child Darshan Safary, who had to actually contribute more to the movie than Aamir.
